INTRODUCTION
Since 1981, AIRVAG has been developing original artistic air structures, providing unique street shows all around the world.
Experts of the grandiose, these versatile artists create shows that fit the architectural style and size of the places. Always seeking for innovative ideas, the AIRVAG collective orient towards multidisciplinary techniques for a better intimate communication between the structures and the public.
‘We create and produce, from draft to the mise-en-scene, transient environments aimed to highlight the public spaces, the streets, the parks and monuments. We adapt each of our shows to the space we want to occupy. We bring our structures to life through illuminations, music and performances, giving a new face to the spaces and providing the public with a pleasant change of scenery in their daily environment. By our interventions, we create surprise but we also hope to lead the public to participate in our universe. Depending on the situation, the public can orchestrate the light, sound and the air structures’ movement. In getting caught up in this magical game, the public regains their child’s soul.’
For 28 years, AIRVAG has been all over the world, participating in various shows: festivals, opening galas, private shows and sporting events… From the Esplanade of Singapore to the La Defense business centre in Paris, the festival of Sydney to the Olympic Games of Athens, the Botanic Garden of Brussels, Barcelona, Rome, London...
Note: AIRVAG had its beginnings in the street shows known as ‘Air de Jeu’ in 1983 organised by Michel Crespin, Director of Lieux Publics with the Plasticiens Volants, from the Ritacalfoul collective of Gilles Ebersolt. The specialty of these organisations is, like that of AIRVAG, the utilization of air and other light matters to invade the public spaces and create events in an urban scale.
For the company, the essential ingredients to create popular events are games and the interaction and links with the public.
“High Roller and the Ratatams”
11:00pm The city is packed out.
On the crowded avenue, it’s carnival.
Suddenly, luminous claws rear up, as coming from the underworld.
The Ratatams are unleashed in all their height and volumes upon the crowd who react joyously to the magical festive movements.
As the demonstration subsides, a vast horn, 25 meters long, swelling and growing, surges out into the starry sky.
Arms and eyes look up towards the sky where a blizzard of confetti rains down. An intense moment that everyone will remember for an eternity.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
“High Roller and the Ratatams”
10 horns 6.5 meters, 1 horn 25 meters, 4 movable air structures, projection of silver ribbons and confetti, music.
LENGHT: Show: 30 minutes + installation of lights: to define.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT: 2 persons are requested for the setting-up and dismantling and 4 persons during the show.

SONORISATION: Plan an accompaniment fanfare and/or a musical diffusion with a power of 100 decibels.
BALLAST: Horn 6.5m: 4 x 25kg per horn = 1 tone in total.
Horn 25m: 6 x 700kg = 4.2 tones to be installed by machine and its driver.
PUBLIC LIGHTING: Cutting off of all nearest public lighting.
SECURITY:
Cable transit might be needed.
Security barrier if necessary: 150m line to block the site.

Plan to ban the traffic and parking from installation to dismantling.

“The Conical Symphony”
The Conical Symphony transports the public into a universe made of abstract shapes, lights and strange noises.
This universe is composed of cones, from 8 to 14 meters high, of which the changing colors create an interactive relationship with the public. Strange characters lead the public to take part in the game, playing with the shapes, the space.
By their movements, spectators set off strange sounds which lead them gradually to another environment. In this poetic atmosphere, helped by the night, the public is transported into a surrealistic world for a sweet and hushed moment.

“The Conical Symphony”
LENGHT: Must be defined by the event management team.
DRESSING ROOM: for 3 persons, must be close to the site.
ONSITE:
Cone 8 meters : on the ground 2.5 x 2.5 m multiplied by 7.
Cone 14 meters : on the ground 5 x 5 m multiplied by 3.
ACCESSIBILITY: Plan authorization of traffic and parking for a 12 tones truck
DURATION OF SET UP AND DISMANTLING: 1 day or 2 days for setting-up, depending on the site and 1 day for dismantling.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT: 2 persons are requested for the setting-up and dismantling and 4 persons during the show.
ELECTRICITY: For each Cone:
Plan a 2KW electric connection with a 16 Ampere plug, protection 30 milliAmpere (mA).
10 electric connections in total situated at the bottom of each Cone. Electric cable installation could be needed.
WATER BALLAST:
Cone 8 meters : 300 litres multiplied by 7 = 2,100 litres
Cone 14 meters : 1000 litres, multiplied by 3 = 3,000 litres
Plan the filling up of the structures, either by a direct water connection (have a hose long enough), or by a firetruck.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
2 persons are requested for the setting-up and dismantling, and during the show if necessary.
PUBLIC LIGHTING: Cutting off of all nearest public lighting.
SECURITY:
Security barrier if necessary.
Surveillance obligatory from start to end of the setting-up.
Plan to forbid the traffic and parking for the settlement period.

Your eyes don’t lie, but a star just blew you a kiss.

ELECTRICITY: For each structure:
1 electric connection of 3KW with 16 Ampere plug, protection 30 milliAmpere (mA).
WATER BALLAST: For each structure: 2 m³ of water.

Space needed for one “Bird”: 2,6 x 2,6 m, 5,4 x 5,4 m, 6 x 6 m, 10 m on 360° wingspan.
Maximum space needed on the ground for installation: 6 m width x 10 m length. To multiply by the number of “birds”.
ACCESSIBILITY: Plan for authorization of traffic and parking for a heavy truck.
DURATION OF SET UP AND DISMANTLING: 1 day and a half for setting-up, 1 day for dismantling.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT: 3 persons are requested for the setting-up and the dismantling. People can be requested during the show.
ELECTRICITY: For each structure:
1 electric connection of 2KW, 16 Ampere plug with protection 30 milliAmpere (mA).

FASTENING: Each structure is fastened by 6 pliers of 1 m OR by ballast and in this case plan 4 x 400kg + 4 x 50kg. To multiply by the number of the “Birds”.

“A Frog’s Dream”
An afternoon of games, adventures…where the party is born spontaneously.
New space, new weightlessness.
They are blue as the sea, yellow as the dune under the sun, tremendous and friendly.
Children jump and surf transported into laugh and madness.
In a universe fitting to their dreams, kids and parents will come to sit on funny waves.

“A Frog’s Dream”
LENGHT: 4 hours.
ON SITE:
Plan a space of around 1,500m². Grassy ground with authorisation to wet it. Park needed on the site for a12 tone heavy truck.
ACCESSIBILITY: Plan authorization of traffic and parking for a 12 tone heavy truck.
DURATION OF SETTING UP AND DISMANTLING: 3 hours for setting-up, 2 hours for dismantling.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
2 persons are requested for 1 hour during the setting-up and the dismantling. 4 coordinators for children are requested for the surveillance of the children and avoid any disturbance during the show.
ELECTRICITY:
Plan an electric set with:
Nine 16 Ampere plug (24KW)
If there is the Confetti animation: 1 plug 3P + N + Ground, 32 Ampere three-phase (36KW).
SECURITY:
Cable transit might be needed.
Security barrier if necessary.
